kumu has officially unveiled its “Live Events” platform, further expanding its roster of innovative livestreaming services. kumu Live Events aims to be the biggest virtual stage of the Philippines, affording viewers live concert experiences, festivals and parties from the comfort of their own homes. It will primarily be hosted on kumu.live, the app’s desktop platform for larger screen viewings. More details of the grand unveiling is set for the rest of April, which will include details for ticket-selling, and the current line-up for musical performances.

kumu Live Events kicked-off at a time when summer-holidays could have offered the public more exciting gimmicks and outdoor festivities; but with quarantine measures still in place, kumu seized the opportunity for a digital alternative.
“kumu Live Events hopes to bring the live concert and show experience that we miss to our livestream community.” says Mariel Bitanga, Head of kumu Live Events. “Since we are all still staying home, we built a platform where our community can have access to their favorite artists in fully produced events just as they would pre-pandemic.”
Like any public concert or exclusive event, kumu Live Events will be ticketed and gated events; this is in contrast to the standard kumu livestream shows, which are open to public viewing. Mariel comments, “kumu Live Events would still have kumu’s usual engagement features, which we all know users have come to love. But, we have some special and surprise features lined up, such as private post-show engagement features, replicating the “after-party” experience we used to have in live in-person shows.”
At this point, kumu has not yet unveiled a line-up of artists and festivities for kumu Live Events; but there’s already hot anticipation that these will be revealed in the coming weeks. Although kumu has been a huge hit for individual content creators, the app actually has a real capacity to host grand-scale events and international launches . Earlier this year, the company hosted the first-ever kumu Livestreaming Awards (#KLA2020), an international awards ceremony hosted entirely on the app; this included a fully digital stage, with multiple artists streaming their performances from different locations and times.

The possibilities are truly exciting for kumu Live Events; as a live virtual stage platform, this makes it one of the pioneers of its industry. “As a company, kumu always strives to elevate our users’ experience within our Kumunity.”, says Mariel. “And kumu Live Events is definitely an exciting addition, to offer our users another avenue to enjoy, engage, and connect within our space.”
kumu Live Events will be primarily hosted on the kumu.live website. More details on ticket selling and sign-ups will be available within the month of April.
