In today’s world of uncertainty, what most of us need is to foster genuine community, inclusivity, and respect for diversity. For kumu, connecting people with the same lifestyles and interests is one key solution to minimize the gaps. Its recent partnership with Firestarters Production launched the Boy Love (BL) project, Kumusta Bro, created by Real Florido and written by Wiro Michael Ladera. This was the first ever interactive BL digital series, and users were able to experience it via the livestreaming app.

On average, kumu and Kumusta Bro achieved wider audience engagement, the app registered unique audiences of around 1,535 per livestream. The series hosted a total of 16 live streams from July to September, including the Twitter trendsetter Kumusta Bro MediaCon.

The Kumustra Bro live streams not only presented unique storylines and episodes but also engaged audiences in a variety of interactive activities, such as contests, music, food, and entertainment. Audiences were a good mix of genders and ages, from all over the country and abroad. Since its pilot episode “Tropa MEET CUTE”, the live streams enjoyed steady engagement and viewership, with kumunizens giving diamonds and gifts.

What’s more, Kumusta Bro cast Kristof Garcia (Bench), RJ Agustin (Cerwin), Allen Cecilio (Dean) and Sky Quizon (Thirdy) helped spike kumu downloads and subscriptions to the Firestarter YouTube channel. The analytics  registered over 4 million impressions, nearly half a million views, 44% engagement in gifts, and a 101% engagement figure during the live streams. Needless to say, the cross-promotional efforts of the partnership garnered significant mileage and publicity through the live streams.

During the Kumusta Bro live streams on kumu, audiences were also able to catch Kapamilya chats with series cast Sky Quizon, RJ Agustin, Kristof Garcia, and Allen Cecilio. The session hosted interviews, live guestings, discussions, and appearances via the kumu Spotlight.

The timing for Kumusta Bro’s wider reach on kumu is perfect, as Firestarters Production recently concluded its search for the 5th Kumusta Bro cast member within the digital sphere. The promising JM Mendoza who also works as a model and flight attendant, emerged as the grand winner of the search and will see his screen debut by January 2021 when Kumusta Bro: The Series launches on kumu and YouTube with two episodes airing per week every Thursday and Saturday. JM won over Php100,000 in cash and prizes, a celebrity dental care package courtesy of Urban Smiles, hair care by Glam Squad, and the coveted spot of being the 5th Kumusta Bro cast member among others.

Tune-in on kumu to watch more about Firestarter Production’s digital interactive BL series as well as more exciting, exclusive offerings from the country’s number one Pinoy social media app.
