Los Angeles, CA – Get ready to sing your heart out but also keep your heart healthy, because the newest show to hit Kumu is all about healthcare workers who can save lives and kill at karaoke! Healthcareoke is the search for the top singer in healthcare, an innovative and entertaining livestream show that is open to US-based healthcare workers and medical students who can sing. It is a must-watch for all music lovers and especially made for the Filipino community. Healthcareoke combines the excitement of karaoke while centering the important work that US healthcare workers do, giving participants the chance to showcase their musical talents and honor their stories working in the medical field as we come out of a global pandemic. With new episodes airing every Tuesday and Thursday at 7 PM PST (Wednesdays and Fridays, 11AM PH time) on Kumu via the @onedown channel, viewers can tune in to see some of the best and brightest healthcare professionals and students perform their favorite songs and talk about their work in the industry.

To participate in Healthcareoke, all you need to do is sign up and join a 15-minute information session on how to audition at https://calendly.com/healthcareoke/auditions. Then simply record a video introducing yourself, what you do in healthcare, and sing your favorite karaoke song. Then, post the video on any social media platform (Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok) with the hashtag #Healthcareoke, add your Kumu username, and tag @kumu_usa and @onedown.media. Make sure your profile is public!

One Down, one of the producers of the show, built the concept, because in Hollywood, Filipinos are often seen as formidable competitors when it comes to reality talent competitions. However, rarely do they ever see themselves win in the end. Healthcareoke recognizes that Filipinos have immense talent but also have made huge contributions to American society in the form of healthcare. The show has also recruited a talented panel of guest judges from within the Filipino American community, including Jeremy Passion, Ruby Ibarra, Alyssa Rafael, Jules Aurora, Garth Garcia, Jennifer Paz, and Jules Cruz of the Filharmonic. 

And while their judges are star-studded, the show has partnered with multiple community organizations to support their efforts in finding the best singer in healthcare. Partners like SoCal Filipinos, FilAm TV, the Filipino American National Honor Society (FANHS), and Hella Basa have joined the ranks in support of the show. And the show is also supporting Nurse Unseen, a documentary on the Filipino nurses who fought on the frontlines of the pandemic.
