Born and raised in Cagayan De Oro, DJ Loonyo has tried several different platforms to express his creativity; but it was kumu that hit just the right spot for him. He has since been loving the limitless, creative opportunities kumu presents, not just as a livestreaming app, but an online hub of fellow creatives. “It’s a safe place where you can gather more positive energy and connect with people, while expressing yourself and sharing your insights. Of course, no one wants any negativity during a livestream.” And thus, kumu is the place to freely express yourself.
These days, DJ Loonyo is a favorite among the Kumunity, with over 82,000 followers in his kumu account. He’s been such a hit, that even actress and celebrity vlogger Alex Gonzaga mentioned him as one of her favorite kumu streamers.
Recently, DJ Loonyo partnered with kumu for a recent program called Cypher (Talent Mo, Flex Mo), wherein he was able to engage with his audience virtually and lead an online dance-off. “I was able to teach a certain choreography, and the contestants picked it up in a limited amount of time. This only shows that nothing is impossible with kumu!” he beams.
Beyond simply entertaining the public, kumu, according to DJ Loonyo, is a powerful avenue to promote positive change. “Especially now that we are in a pandemic, people need to move and maintain good physical health.” His dance sessions, in this regard, help to motivate people and keep them focused. Apart from his amazing moves, DJ Loonyo gets down and thoughtful with his fans, sharing bits of wisdom, hope, and light to help them through these hard times.
“I’m thankful for kumu, because it helped me continue my passion. Despite the pandemic, it didn’t stop me from dancing and entertaining others. Sharing my insights and talents will always be my greatest experience with kumunity,” he ends.
