MANILA, PHILIPPINES– True blue Pinoy TV fans can never forget how both Kris Aquino and Edu Manzano took the hit game show Pilipinas, Game KNB? to the primetime and gave away millions in cash to lucky contestants.
Since its end in October 2009, not much has been heard about the exciting game show until now when Pinoy channel JEEPNEY TV finally gets the green light for its new iteration on cable TV.
Plus, thanks to the country’s fastest-growing social media app kumu, the legendary game show that took its main concept by combining the Pinoy’s love for cellular phones, texting, and trivia has now also fully evolved into its most exciting digital form.
Dubbed then as the ‘pambansang game show ng Pilipinas’ which is still quite befitting to this day, Pilipinas Game KNB? (@gknb) relaunches itself on JEEPNEY TV this October 12, Monday to Friday at noontime, with kumu users being able to join the 30-minute episodes via live streamed interactive games on the app.
This time, gamemaster chores will be filled in by none other than Robi Domingo, as he gives out instant cash payouts to winning players who are tuned in over their TV sets and on kumu in another media first that breaks down the fourth wall.
“Our partnership with kumu, through the rebooted Pilipinas, Game KNB? just goes to show the undying Kapamilya pioneering spirit and our pursuit for constant innovation in entertaining Filipino audiences, wherever they may be,” stated JEEPNEY TV Channel Head Cindy De Leon.
Thanks to the novelty of the game show, the kumu team is quite certain that many app users are excited about the relaunch. Pilipinas, Game KNB? has evolved from a yes or no/multiple choice game show during its first airing in 2001, to its more exciting and electronic pyramid format in 2004.
In its new iteration on JEEPNEY TV, the game show now combines the app’s interactive and digital features with real-time broadcasts that allow for a wider audience reach via the platform. Now, more contestants from all over can finally join and take a chance at big cash prizes and jackpots throughout the week!
“We wanted to make TV interactive. This will be the first time wherein the game show will be aired on cable with kumu users and playing from home via kumu,” shared kumu’s Head of Programming Angelo Mendez.
“By combining an exciting iconic show with new technology, kumu now allows users to participate and get a chance at winning cash prizes in live Pilipinas, Game KNB? games that are simultaneously broadcast on TV,” he added.
Having started as a simple app that allows users to live stream, engage in kumunities, and play in interactive game shows, kumu itself has evolved into a platform that also features brands in its e-commerce store Karlito’s Korner and push significant campaigns that help entrepreneurs with their own market reach.
The app has also upgraded its tech game recently and with the addition of Pilipinas, Game KNB? in its interactive roster, both kumu and JEEPNEY TV are hoping to revive the same fandom of the legendary game show and tap new generations of Pinoy audiences who are looking for noteworthy entertainment both on the boob tube and the internet.
