For it’s second story of Season 3, the “kumu Kuwentuhan” podcast talks candidly with couples who found each other on the Pinoy livestreaming app. The episode, intriguingly titled “We Met on kumu”, features guests Homer “Owey” Ramos and Zyra Monica, plus Hannah “Chacha” Quodala and Edizon Quodala, as they recount their modern love stories.

This year’s Valentine’s month is not like others in the past. After a year of isolation and quarantine, the dating scene has shifted drastically to limit physical meet-ups. But, as the famous saying goes, ‘Love will find a way!’ This is certainly the case for our kumu couples, whose love stories began with a livestream. Although kumu is not a dating platform, its priority on raw and authentic connections allows for users to interact on more personal terms–which in some cases, can lead to blossoming romance.
“Who would have thought I’m going to be able to find someone, [and it’s] not on a dating app.” shares Chacha Quodala, who, along with her husband Edizon, are Kumunity agents in kumu. While she does not recommend using kumu as a dating-match platform, she does acknowledge the safe space kumu afforded her to open up about love. “‘Eto na kami ngayon!”
